She was born in Maroubra, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia . Yvonne first learned to speak Polish then she learned English in school.She is a graduate of University of Western Sydney's Theatre Nepean with a Bachelor of Arts in Performance.

Yvonne is represented by Sue Barnett & Associates in Surry Hills, Australia. Strahovski appeared in some roles in Australian film and television and currently appears as Sarah Walker in the American television series Chuck. She sent in her audition tape for the show "Chuck" from Australia. Six months later she moved to the United States and was cast as the leading lady on "Chuck" two days later. Single as of 2007 she dated Matt Doran until 2006-07. She was dating someone behind the camera but they have broken up recently due to work schedules.
